Today, you will notice something faily different... I finally completed the "home" page of my website. Before it was just the Site News. I might change it around some more, because even though this is what I want, something about it doesn't look or feel right to me.

Today I'm officially announcing the updates I have been working on. Many of the updates have been live for a while but I'm offically announcing them in today's update.

Tutorials
When I was using Xoom.com for my hosting, they offered tools to start your own community. I experimented with it and thought to myself, what could I offer in my community that no other had? One of the things I offered as exclusive content was tutorials written by Jay Potter and myself on the November 28, 1998 update. Even though some of the tutorials are dated, I share them with you today. You can find the tutorials in the MISC section.

Blog
After numerous of hours I spent manually importing 3 years worth of journal entries, A Weblog for Joseph Villalobos is now online! I have several blogs online, I hope to soon eliminate all the multiple carbon copies of my journal entries and have them in a single place, here on JoesHomePage.com.

I've restored the few images which were embeded in the past news archive. There were images posted in 2006, 1999 and 1998 which were not available until now.

A few days after the last site update, I began experimenting with new redesigns for my website. I showed the prototype to several of my friends and they all seemed to like it better and said it looks a lot cleaner. I figured this would be a great opportunity to code my site with XHTML standards.

Tada! What do you think? Most of the website is up and running. The only part of the site which lacks the content is the Photo Albums which are found at About Me. I'm sure I will find some areas which need to be tweaked and fixed. If you see anything, please let me know. Let me know what you think of the redesign as well!

Once upon a time ago, visitors used to sign a guestbook if the website had one. A guestbook is a type of online form that allows site visitors to sign in, leave comments or feedback. You could also discover really cool websites by surfing other people's guestbooks. Guestbook surfing was one of the best sources of traffic for personal web pages. Anyways, that was a long time ago. No one signs guestbooks anymore and I'm tired of deleting spam out of my current guestbook! Since 2003, I've only received less than 30 new entries. I'm starting off the New Year off by getting rid of my guestbook service. All those entries are not lost, since I did back them up and placed the archive in the new section I called, Comments. Since no one likes to sign guestbooks anymore, maybe they will leave a a comment? Idunno we will soon find out!

Enough of the Guestbook rant, I have done some updates on several sections throughout my site. Some pages I striked out, others I completed. This year, I really want to complete my site rather than just leaving it stuck at 70%. I have some really good ideas that I want to accomplish the beginning of this year. Hopefully I will have them up next weekend if I have time. One thing I want to do is destroy and rebuilt the Movie section into a streaming Video section. Even though encouragement and feedback will be appreciated; its really hard to stay confident when you read stuff online about certain HTML elements were deprecated.
